Obituary: WV Gazette-Mail 8/29/2018
Roy Jackson Nida Jr., well known as "Jack", was the only son of Roy Jackson Nida Sr. and Ruby Gladys Looney. He was born on 2 Dec 1930 in Amma, WV and passed away at the age of 87, on August 24, 2018.
He attended Amma Elementary School and Spencer High School, where he won the school championship in table tennis. Jack joined the U.S. Air Force and spent the next four years at Lockland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, as a Supply Sergeant. Jack attended Charleston School of Commerce, where he graduated with a diploma in Accounting. He also attended Morris Harvey College, now Charleston U., where he studied Chemistry and Engineering. He worked at Union Carbide and founded Advanced Chemical Products/Neoprene International Corp. He lived at Amma, Boston, Chicago and Atlanta.
Jack married his lovely wife, Norma Jean on August 28, 1959. He had two children: Randall and Sandra. Jack had a daughter-in-law, Zuany, and three grandchildren, named Randall, Jr., James Jackson and Thomas Jefferson.
Jack enjoyed playing musical instruments, writing, gardening, genealogy, traveling, hunting and fishing. Jack was a small business owner, musician, veteran and writer. Jack was the author of "The Family Von Nida, from Germany to America 1262-1998." He attended historical society meetings and was member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given to him. Jack's biggest concern was caring for his wife, Jean, after she suffered a stroke. We all think he did a great job taking care of her. "We will miss you, Jack. Rest in Peace."
