Obituaries : Frances Hascue

Frances Hascue

Mrs. Frances Hascue, 72-year-old wife of George Hascue, of Looneyville, died at her home at 1:35 yesterday afternoon and funeral services will be conducted from the home at 3 o?clock this afternoon. The Vandale mortuary will be in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hascue, a native of the county, had been ill for the past ten days of bronchial pneumonia. She was the daughter of the late George Criner and Jane Eagleson Criner, native of Russell county, Virginia. She was a member of the Advent church.

Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Daugherty, of Looneyville, a son, John Hascue, of Clio; three sisters, Mrs. Dana Sparr, and Esther and Vashti Criner, all of Looneyville, and a brother, Esby Criner, of Kyger.

George W. Tucker

George W. Tucker, age 82, died Saturday, February 5, at the Gordon Memorial hospital after an illness of four weeks. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Tucker, and was affiliated with the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Minnora. He was born in Roane county and resided at Reedy. Surviving ---------- Tucker, of Reedy, Wilbur Tucker, of Oka, John Tucker, of Akron, Ohio, Thomas Tucker, of Spencer ---------- --------- Tucker, Dennis, ---------- two sisters, Mrs. Alice May, of Gip, and ---------annie Boggs, of Gip, and nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Rites were held at eleven o'clock, Monday, February 7, at the Mt. Vernon Church, at Milo, with the Reverend Charles Wilkinson, officiating. Burial was held at the Tucker Cemetery, at Milo, with the Vandale Funeral Home in charge.

Obituaries : James Willis Ashley

James Willis Ashley 72, of Little Creek, Liverpool Route 1, died very suddenly at the family home Tuesday evening, January 18, shortly after dark, of heart trouble. He had been working during the day hauling wood. Funeral services were at the Pleasant Grove Church in charge of Rev. E.S. Warren assisted by Rev L.E. Bolte, burial was in the church cemetery, in charge of funeral director T.W. Dye.

The deceased was a son of the late J.T. and Martha Paxton Ashley and was born September 10, 1865. He married Susan M. Stewart on November 3, 1888 who survives with 6 children, Ella, wife of Arley Moore of Pullman,West Virginia, Dewey Ashley of Amma, Herbert Ashley, and Gladys, wife of Ralph Atkinson of Peniel, Reedy, Route 1, Herman and Kenneth Ashley of Liverpool, Route 1. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and one great grandson; two brothers Joseph and L.F. Ashley of Bear Run, Reedy, one sister Mrs. W.E. Straight of Grace. He was a member of Gilboa Church.

Obituaries : Jefferson Davis Stewart

J. D. STEWART BURRIED AT REEDY

Funeral services for Jefferson Davis Stewart 78, who died at his home on Middle Reedy Friday evening after an extended illness of heart trouble, were held from the M.E. South church at Reedy, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev J.D. Cumberledge officiating. Burial was in church cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was born April 25, 1860 a son of John and Lucinda Knopp Stewart in Jackson County. He is survived by his widow Elizabeth Board Stewart; three daughters Mrs. Tressie Francisco of Charleston; Mrs. Jessie Hutchinson of Akron and Mrs. Beulah Britton of Reedy . Three Sons Harley of Parkersburg. Claude of Reedy and Harry at home also one sister, Angeline Nease of Syracuse, Ohio.

Obituaries : Jeremiah Lewellen

Jeremiah Lewellen

This most worthy man was born in Monongalia county, August 27, 1825, moving to Roane county in the spring of 1861 and died at Spencer Monday., the result of old age. He was the father of C.W, M.F, T.H, J.W, and Mary the latter being the wife of Prof R.A. Douglas of our county. Funeral services were held at the M.P. Church yesterday with Rev C.P. Butler his pastor officiating and the remains interned in the town cemetery.
