Obituaries : Martha Paxton Ashley

Martha Ashley
Martha Paxton Ashley, died Saturday night April 3 at her home on Reedy, Route 3 at the age of 84. She was the widow of the late John T. Ashley. Four sons and two daughters survive, Wm. of Liverpool, L.S., Joe and John, Mrs. Jeff Callow and Mrs. W.E. Straight of Reedy. A daughter Mrs. Sallie Callow and a son Thomas preceded her in death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.N. Fox and burial was made in Fox cemetery, the remains in charge of funeral director T.W. Dye.

Martha Longfellow
Martha Longfellow, age 80, died Thursday, February 3, at Harrisville, ------------------ of four years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Davis McPherson, -------------------- of the ------ist Church. She made her home in this city. She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Losie Riddle, Witchita, Kansas, Delly Greathouse, Cleveland, Ohio, three sons, Clarence Greathouse, of Witchita, Kansas, Ferris Greathouse, Witchita, Kansas and Okie Longfellow, of Parkersburg. Funeral services were held at one o'clock, Sunday, February 6, at the Hardman-Conrad funeral home, officiated by the Reverend Buck Balser. Burial was held at the Spencer Cemetery with the Hardman-Conrad funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ann Washburn born Aug. 8, 1841; died Sept. 26, 1933, 82 yrs 1 mo and 15 days. Funeral services held at home of son J.A. Stanley of Walton. Surviving 1 brother L.L. Atkinson of Reedy, 1 sister E.E. Dalrymple of Walton, 3 sons J.A Stanley of Walton, F.E.Stanley of Youngstown Ohio, J.M. House of Spencer. Preceded in death by 1 son 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Buried W.L Comwell Farm on Ridge road, Walton.

Mary Carpenter Nester
Mary Carpenter Nester age 92, widow of Lee Grant Nester died at her residence at Amma, Friday, August 23 after an illness of nine weeks. She was born in Roane County the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carpenter. Surviving are 1 son James E. Nester of Amma, 1 sister, Jane Trump of Charleston and 1 brother, Benjamin Carpenter of Parkersburg, 5 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 25 at Amma M.E. Church with Rev, E.H. Ritchie and Rev Marshall Phillips officiating. Burial in Amma Cemetery with Hardman-Conrad Funeral home in charge.

Mrs. Sarah Atkinson died March 20, 1933, widow of Charles Atkinson in Spencer. Born in Washington County, Ohio July 9, 1859 daughter of Samuel and Mary Evelsizer, 3 Sons Harvey C. of Reedy, Leander of Parkersburg, George W. of Spencer, daughters Lucy Starcher of Spencer, Agnes Hughes of Washington Pa., Lillie Mae McCaulley of Spencer, Mary Jane Atkinson of Spencer, 2 brothers Samuel and Frank.
