I am currently reading a book by Lee R. Gandee in which many histories of Left Hand are recounted. I would be very pleased if you or anyone at your society has the time to send me any information on the founding of Left Hand and any information on how the name of it was arrived at. I am a student at Mills College and am considering writing some on the history.

The mostly residential unincorporated community of Left Hand is located in southeastern Roane Co. in Geary District. [State Rte 36, County Road 58]. It is located on the Left Hand Run of Big Sandy Creek, therefore the name Left Hand. A post office is located there, zip code 25251. It is also the home of Geary Elementary [Middle] School PK-8, a local library and the Southern Roane Medical Clinic. 2009 population - 390.
