Margaret Keeling Killen
Homemaker was Jefferson Avenue UM Church member
Margaret Keeling Killen, 93, of Washington, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born January 10, 1916, in Washington, a daughter of George J. and Mary Allen Keeling.
Mrs. Killen was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.
She attended Immaculate Conception High School and Washington High School.
A homemaker, she was past matron of the former Lincoln Chapter 112 Order of the Eastern Star and member of Evening Star Chapter 187 Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of Southwestern Pennsylvania Genealogical Society and National Pike Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution.
On February 9, 1934, in Wellsburg, W.Va., she married Harry Edward Killen Jr., who died February 13, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Harry E. (Lois) Killen III of Washington; a sister, Mary Roth of Washington; four grandchildren, Debra, David, Harry IV and Donna; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by a brother George J. Keeling, Jr., and a sister Catherine Hammond.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 14, with the Rev. John P. Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, 160 Jefferson Ave., Washington, PA 15301, or a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Killen had been a member of the Roane County Historical Society, Inc. since 2007.
