Jacob Argabrite, Esq., one of the old veterans of the Civil War, died at his home, about one mile east of Spencer, on Wednesday, 14 July, 1909, of heart trouble. He had been troubled more or less with affectation of the heart for several years, but was taken suddenly ill with more deep-seated trouble on the Saturday preceding his death. He was born 8 March 1842, enlisted in the Union Army 19 Feb 1861, and served until the close of the war. April 5, 1866 he was married to Miss Alice Ingram and to this union were born seven children, one of whom preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday, conducted by Rev. Adkins, after which the remains were buried in the burying grounds near where he lived. He was one of Roane's old and esteemed citizens. His old comrades acted as pall-bearers. The old soldier boys are fastly passing away. He leaves a widow and six children.
