George L. Argabrite

Another veteran of the Civil War, one who wore the blue, was called home the past week. George L. Argabrite of Liverpool, Jackson Co., passed away Saturday, March 18, 1916. Mr. Argabrite was nearing the age of 87 years and death was incident to old age. he was formerly a resident of this county, but moved to the edge of Jackson Co. several years ago where he had resided since.

The deceased was born in Monroe County, but came to Roane County early in life and settled in the Curtis District. He enlisted in the army and served through its entirety in Co. F., 11th WV Regiment, having been present at the surrender of the Confederacy. Following the close of the war, he came home and was united in marriage with Mrs. Emily Ingraham, who survives. Surviving their union: Mrs. Dempsey Parsons, Spencer; Mrs. John Roberts, Rt. 1; Mrs.E. S. Ball, Reedy; W. L. Argabrite, Spencer; and R. C. Argabrite, Liverpool.

Mr. Argabrite was a faithful member of the Methodist-Episcopal Church for many years. He was highly regarded for his sincerity and honesty and was well-loved by all who knew him. He was in Spencer last fall to visit his daughter, Mrs. Parsons, and has a most enjoyable time talking with his old comrades.

The remains were laid to rest Sunday.
