I have not been researching your particular family but while working on mine I have learned that many WV actually came first through the Carolinas then Va then to western VA now WV. That is what i love about doing this research, it is a constant frustrating, fun learning process. Sorry I could only chat and not really help. Lynn Schaffner

I would be happy to try to help you find your Swiney/Sweeney ancestor. I am not related to the Swiney's but found that the name was familiar in the Walton, Roane Co. area. Can you be more specific at to the date time-frame?
I find a Henry Edward Swiney [1879-1962] who md. Mamie Pettit in Roane Co. but he died in Kanawha Co.
