Miles Perrine was born in Strange Creek, VA (WV) on 15 APR 1831. He died on 18 NOV 1885 in Spencer, WV and is buried in the Spencer Memorial Cemetery, Spencer, WV.
Assigned to CPT William F. Pell Co. 193rd Virginia (WV) Militia.

Do you recognize this young soldier identified on photos as Jack Hively. Circa 1940's. This pic was in the Ralph Lowery photo collection donated to the RCHS earlier this year. Frank Bise was born in Reedy District, WV, on 8 July 1923, son of Oscar W. Bise and Vesta M (Ball) Bise. He served in the US Army during WWII (9 Feb 43 to 22 Dec 45)as a truck driver with the 270th Ordance Motor Vehicle Distribution in France. He hauled, rations, gasoline, ammunition and supplies. He married Mary Alice Hetzer and lived most of his life in Reedsville, OH. He died March 4, 1999 in Parkersburg, WV and is buried in the Reedsville Cemetery, Reedsville, OH. |

Brooks Dallas Griffith, the oldest Son of George L. and Bess Wright Griffith, was born August 15, 1921 in Looneyville, West Virgina. He died July 6, 2011 in Valencia, California, and is buried in the Veteran's section of Eternal Valley Memorial Park, Newhall, California.
He served in the US Navy during WWII as well as with the Navy Reserve during the Korean Conflict. |

Harry "Bill" Willis Pursley (May 18, 1915 - September 14, 2010)
H.W. ?Bill? Pursley, 95, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, in Eagle Pointe, Parkersburg.
He was born May 8, 1915, at Pasco, Roane County, a son of the late Emery Morey and Lillie Mae Bell Pursley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Wright Pursley, November 5, 1998.
Mr. Pursley was a retired construction worker. He was a member of the Woodbine Baptist Church, Manassas, VA, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Also, he was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Pursley of Parkersburg and Steve Pursley of Jackson, GA; a daughter, Susan Shappell of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 18 at noon in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Ron Fisher officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call Saturday two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
