Description
Footnote.com is a new service that, amongst other services, is digitizing content from the National Archives and making it available for viewing online in an interesting deal which allows them to publish the content for a few years as a commercial offering, and then contribute the digital content back to the American public. As mentioned, this is a commercial service, but there is a great deal of free content, and index searches of this incredible resource are free. There is a staggering amount of content available, especially for such a new service. It is well worth a look.

Description
This is a commercial database, but there are free searches, and lots of free sections. Of special interest to Roane County researchers is the Small Town Papers collection which features searchable versions of the Roane County Reporter for 1925, 1930, and 2003-2007 and the Times Record for 2006-2007 with images of the actual printed pages. It might take a bit to get used to the site navigation, but it holds some treasures.
