[b]Orpha Belle Kessel Brisendine[/b] Orpha Belle Kessel Brisendine, 89, of Clendenin died May 25, 2002 at home after a long illness. She was born March 1, 1913 at Long Ridge, Roane County to the late Guy Winton and Clora Alice Dodd Kessel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. "Babe" Brisendine on Sept. 15, 1992 and daughter, Martha Ellen Brisendine. She was a member of the Clendenin Advent Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge No. 126, Clendenin. She is survived by her sons, Tom and his wife, Iris of Nitro, John and his wife, Elizabeth of Madison, MO; daughters, Anna Osborne of Clendenin and Carolyn Anderson and her husband, James of Beckley; sister, Anna Macel Hull of Charleston; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin with the Rev. Nahum Balser officiating. Burial will be in Clendenin Memorial Gardens.
