[b]SPANISH ?AMERICAN WAR VETERAN DIES[/b] SPENCER-Marius P. Starcher, 83-yeard-old retired farmer of Otto, near this Roane County community, died late Monday at he home of a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Suttle of Looneyville, He was born at Burnings Springs, Kanawha County, June 9, 1873, but had lived most of his life in Roane County. He was veteran of the Spanish-American War and a member of Linden Lodge No. 83, AF&AM. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Bertie Webb Starcher; five other daughers, Mrs. Ester Niday of Mogadore, Ohio; Mrs. Effie Wallbrown of Atwater, Ohio; Mrs. Clair Lewis of Parkersburg; Mrs. Bernice Chambers of Clover, W.Va. , and Mrs. Azeline Sommerville of Mishawhaka, Ind.; five sones, Frank of Front Royal, Va.; Carl of Mammoth, John and Billy of Otto, and Fred of Hollydale, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Effie Chambers of Charleston, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
