[b]Asbury Lewis[/b] Asbury Lewis died Saturday evening December 20, 1919, cause of death heart trouble. Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 31, 1839. He was at time of death 80 years 4 months 17 days old. In November 1866 he was united in marriage to Miss Olive Post and to this union were born seven children, four of whom survive. George L. Lewis of Spencer; Judson and Orville Lewis of Ohio; and Laco Lewis of Alabama. He came to Roane County in 1884 from Harrison county two years later on Feb. 28, 1886 he married Frances Katherine Looney. To this union were born 6 children , two of whom are still living. Mrs. Josephine Rowe and Miss Matilda Jeanette Lewis. He is also survived by his wife and 2 sisters Mrs. Mary Ellen Queen of Jane Lew and Mrs. Elizabeth Bartlett of Harrison county. 3 brothers John W. Lewis of Lost Creek; Samuel Lewis of Johnstown and Alan Lewis of Jane Lew. The early part of his residence was at a farm at Walnut Grove. Funeral service were held Monday at Methodist Protestant Church by Rev. Payne. Interment in family burying ground near Spencer. [i](Submitted by James R. Carpenter) Times Record, Dec. 25, 1919[/i]
