[b]Salena M. Dye[/b] Funeral services for Mrs. Salena M. Dye, 56, wife of J. A. Dye, well known farmer of Left Hand, and a sister of Flem Steber, of this city, who died at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. James Monroe, of Upper Market Street, Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock following a lingering illness were held from the Dye home at Left Hand Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Following he ceremony the body was laid to rest in the J.A.Dye cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by the Reverend Herbert Smith of Left Hand. Mrs. Dye was born in Craig County, Virginia, October 10, 1870 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Steber. In 1880 she came to Roane county with her daughter and established her new home with them near Tariff. At Linden in 1892 she became the wife of J. A. Dye of Left Hand. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Reverend Wilbur Spencer, now of Charleston. Mr. and Mrs. Dye established their new home at Left Hand where they resided until Mrs. Dyes death Monday. In 1916 Mrs. Dye was converted and became affiliated with he Left hand Baptists church. She was identified as an active worker in the church and was prominent in civic circles in her community. On October 5, 1893 Mrs. Dyes mother died and was buried in a cemetery near the old home place near Tariff. A few years later her father returned to Virginia where he died about six years ago. Mrs. Dye is survived by her husband, one brother, Flem Steber, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Burgess of Eveleth, Minnesota. [i]Obituary in the Roane County Reporter August 19, 1926 [/i]
