| [b]Joint Rites For Crislips[/b]
Joint funeral rites from [b]Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Crislip[/b], victims in a shooting tragedy at the Crislip home on Island Run, February 28, were held from the Slate Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. R. H. Kennedy, Rev. M. C. Gainer and Rev. Efford Epling in charge. Internment was made in the Rogers cemetery by Vandale Funeral Home.
Mr. Crislip, 51, was born in Gilmer county a son of the late William and Nancy Faymore Crislip. He had been a resident of Roane county for many years and taught in he rural schools several terms, in addition to operating a small farm.
Mrs. Crislip, 43, was a native of Roane County being a daughter of John and Artie Short Greathouse who reside about three miles east of Spencer on U. S. Route 33. She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years.
Ten children survive-Mrs. Floy A. Schreckenghost, and Mrs. Ruth Schreckenghost, both of Island Run; Bernice Crislip, in the U.S. Army; Erline, Ernest, Jr., Helen, Wilma Nell, Charles E., Betty Ann and Glenda Carrol all at home.
Other survivors of Mr. Crislip are four brothers, John, and Lovett, of Akron, Willam of Glenville, and Roy. of Spencer; and one sister, Miss Lilly Crislip of Akron.
Surviving Mrs. Crislip are her parents; one brother, John Greathouse, of Spencer, and six sisters, Mrs. Lena Haverty, Mrs. Opal Shreve, Mrs. Elsie Shreve, and Mrs. Marie Spencer, all of Spencer, Mrs. Ocie Simmons, of Burning Springs, and Miss Frances Greathouse, of Spencer.
