Donald Oral Wilson was born December 24, 1903, near Spencer, in Roane county and died November 30, 1919, at the Roane County Hospital, after a two weeks illness of pneumonia. He was at the time of his death, fifteen years, eleven months and six days of age. He was called in the bloom of youth, with a future and a life of promise before him. "Bud" as he was called, was possessed of such beauty of disposition and character, that his friends were numbered among all those by whom he was known. He was kind at heart and good to all and never refused any task; which he was called upon to do. His ways and life were as nearly perfect as it is given any life to be, and its influence upon those he leave behind will be great. His friends and neighbors, with whom he was associated, and by whom he was held in high regard, feel that his place in their hearts will be hard to fill. "The Golden Gate was opened wide Jesus called him to come And his loved ones are waiting the call To meet him in Home Sweet Home." He was the son of Nevil C. Wilson and Leona Wilson, and is survived by his parents, one sister, Opal, and three brothers, Homer, Virgil and Vernon, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. The remains were taken to the Triumph Church, where the funeral services were held and the body laid to rest in the Wilson cemetery. (Submitted by Vickie Perkins Holland)
