Sarah Atkinson

Mrs. Sarah Atkinson died March 20, 1933, widow of Charles Atkinson in Spencer. Born in Washington County, Ohio July 9, 1859 daughter of Samuel and Mary Evelsizer, 3 Sons Harvey C. of Reedy, Leander of Parkersburg, George W. of Spencer, daughters Lucy Starcher of Spencer, Agnes Hughes of Washington Pa., Lillie Mae McCaulley of Spencer, Mary Jane Atkinson of Spencer, 2 brothers Samuel and Frank.

Sarah Elizabeth McGraw

Sarah Elizabeth McGraw was born September 3, 1854 and departed this life April 6, 1928 being 73 years 7 months and 3 days old. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. McGraw December 16, 1880. To this union five children were born -- Mrs. Fanny Anderson of Parkersburg, Mrs. Stella Law of Reedy, Mr. Roy McGraw at home, Miss Lora McGraw and Mrs. Fannie Garlode , having preceded her in death. She is also survived by 2 sisters Mrs. Mary Ann Washburn and Mrs. Ella Dalrymple and a brother L.L. Atkinson.

Mrs. McGraw lived at Reedy for many years and moved away about 25 years ago. The remains were brought to Reedy Sunday and interment was made in McClung Cemetery services were conducted by Rev J.J. Kelley. E.R. Lester assisted by Neil Conard of Vandale Undertaking Company of Spencer had charge of the remains.

Sybil Wolfe Belt

SPEED WOMEN IS BURIED SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Sybil Wolfe Belt 49 year old wife of Homer Belt of Speed who died at her home Friday following a long illness, were held at the Hebron church with Rev R.H. Kenney in charge, burial was in Hebron cemetery. Mrs. Belt was the daughter of Mrs. Frona Runnion Wolfe and the late Elliot Wolfe. She was born October 14, 1865 and was a native of Roane County and a member of Hebron Church. The deceased is survived by Mrs. Frona Wolfe living in Spencer, the husband Homer Belt, two daughters Blondena and Waneta and 4 sons, Wolfe, Calvin, Rolfe and Lavon all at home, a sister. Beulah Wolfe of Spencer and 6 brothers, Joseph Wolfe of Logan, Paul Wolfe of Speed, Daniel Wolfe of Monore La. and Miles, Baird and Conrad Wolfe of Spencer.

Obituaries : Andrew Jackson Bowyer

Andrew Jackson Bowyer

Andrew Jackson Bowyer, Veteran of the Civil War, politician, and well beloved citizen of Spencer passed away March 6th 1916 at 2:20 O'clock, he had been Ill and feeble for several years. Mr. Bowyer was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Bowyer and was born in Monore County Virginia now West Virginia September 6th 1845 and was past 70 years of age. His family moved to Roane county about 1861 and settled on Reedy in Curtis District. The deceased is survived by 2 brothers George W. Bowyer of Curtis District and James Bowyer of Wirt County, He was united in marriage shortly after returning from the war to Malinda Carpenter, she and son Harry Bowyer remain to mourn their great loss. He enlisted in 1863 and served through the war with the Union and was discharged in July 1865. Buried in Spencer Cemetery.

Willi Blandis Carpenter

Willi Blandis Carpenter age 87 died at Depue Hospital November 12. Following three months of illness, at time of death she was living at Reedy. She was born in Roane county the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Wolfe and a Member of Reedy Methodist Church.

Survivors include 3 sons Oren Carpenter of Rochester, Penn., Roy of Reedy and Maurice of Reedy, one daughter Mrs. Gladys Mazingo of Wheeling. Funeral services were held Tuesday Nov 14 at Peniel Church with Rev C.W. Scraggs of Paden City officiating burial was in Peniel Cemetery, with the Vandale Funeral home in charge.
