      <title>Grotto Dell, Roane County, WV</title>

      <description>Grotto Dell, Walton area of Roane County.  Does anyone know exactly where the Grotto Dell community was located?  There once was a post office there &amp;amp; it can be found on the 1880 census.  That&#039;s all I know about it.  Any further info would be appreciated.  Linda Liss</description>

      <title>Otto Advent Christian Church</title>

      <description>The Otto A.C. Church was built in 1925. The land was donated by Fredrick Jackson and Malinda Alice Epling and structure was built by donations from the community. The first trustees were Claire Starcher, Alma Nichols, Orphie McMillan, Ocie Ferrell, and Frances McMillan, all young women of the community. The church was destroyed by fire in 1981 and rebuilt in 1982.</description>

      <title>History of the Pine Grove Church</title>

      <description>Pine Grove Church is located approximately 2 miles from Amma, Geary District, Roane County.&lt;br /&gt;The church can be reached via I-79 North from Charleston, exit #25. Turn right at end of exit ramp, turning right again at Pigeon Run Road. Proceed a short distance and then continue straight onto Pine Grove Road about 2 miles. You will pass Amma Church and Cemetery, cross Big Sandy Creek and pass by several houses. The church is on the left banks of Big Sandy Creek.</description>

      <title>M. E. Organized First Religious Society, Geary District</title>

      <description>&lt;strong&gt;BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH&lt;/strong&gt;: Located on Little Left Hand, Geary District, this church traces its beginning back to just after the close of the Civil War. The exact date of the organization was not preserved but the church is known to be closely associated with the first Baptist church organized in Geary District, in 1840, at the home of Charles Drake, on Sandy.</description>

      <title>Spencer State Hospital</title>

      <description>In 1885, the state legislature began hearings on the need for a Second Hospital for the Insane. The first hospital for the insane was built at Weston in 1859. Because of overcrowded conditions, it was determined that a second facility was needed. They appointed a commission to choose several sites and present their findings at the next session in 1887. John G Schilling, a Spencer attorney, was among the members of the commission.</description>
