Thanks for offering to do lookups. I'm researching John Middleton Romine. I've found references that his parents were Samuel and Nancy Dearman Romine, but I've not found anything that makes me comfortable that there is proof of the relationship.
Is there something there about John Middleton Romine and who his parents were? John Middleton Romine was born 10 Sep 1840 in Harrison County, Virginia. On 23 Sep 1866 he married Sarah Eleanor Riley is Roane County, West Virginia. He died 16 Feb 1920 in Reedyville, Roane, WEst Virginia. Thanks again! Denny Peterson Sahuarita, Arizona |

Yes, this family is mentioned in Bishops History 1774-1927.
Romine: Of Curtis and Harper Districts. Samuel Romine and his wife, Nancy (Dearman) Romine, natives of Harrison County, where they had been married, left there and came to upper Left Fork of Reedy in the year 1854. To them were born and by them reared five sons and two daughters, all except one of which children were born in Harrison County. John M Romine, son of Samuel and Nancy, married Miss Sarah Riley, of Flat Fork, September 15, 1866. They made their home on Flat Fork and there reared a family. Also, in the 1850 Harrison County Census: Samuel Romine 39 Farmer Nancy 32 Elizabeth 13 Sarah 11 John 16 Benjamin 8 James P 6 George 2 They are also listed in the 1880 Roane County Census living next door to each other (Samuel and John). Hope this helps. Judy Hildreth |

Just a general question on Roane Co. History. What was happening in the county in the 1845-1850 era? My gg-grandfather,Joshua Meadows settled in Roane Co. during that time and I've been trying to find what inspired him to move from Monroe Co. to Rush Creek. Thanks, Greg Meadows. Doc_Stone@yahoo.com
