Hello,

One of my personal favorite genealogical relatives is my GG Grandfather Levi Clark Lowe(1824-1883). When I first started doing my Lowe tree his name was the one that pretty much connected me to a lot of the remainder of my Lowe lineage.

One of the most important things to me about him I do not have ... photos of his and his wife's burial place.

For many years of my research I have not been able to locate it and then about 10 years ago I was told where it was. To this day I know where its at but still have no pictures. Mainly because I live in Texas.

In some RCHS papers the cemetery is called Pem Lowe Cemetery, after his son Rev. Pembroke Lowe. It is located on his old farm out south of Charles Fork Lake. Directly north of RUSHVILLE. It's north of Rushville on Route 42. As you drive up the road where it doglegs to the left with a farm property on the right, it is that farm property where the cemetery is located. Fenced in from my understanding. From vague recollections there is a church or former church located across from the farm property on the left.

I have attached a photo with a map to the farm. Is anyone on here familiar with this cemetery?

Here is a link to a page I contributed info to listing the known occupants of the cemetery.

The sad part of my story is that there is actually no headstones for Levi and his wife. Don't know why? The info for the cemetery came from Roane County Records on the cemetery from an interview with Rev. Pem Lowe's wife. It is her who said who all is buried there and I do know from other family stories that they are buried on their old property with no headstones.

I would love it someone can go out and shoot some detailed photos for me of both the cemetery and the old farm area. Or if they already have some they can share I would love to see them!

This really means a lot to me to see this place as Levi Clark Lowe and his wife are the only ones I do not have cemetery photos of.

Please if you would drop me a message on here or email me.

Would sure appreciate it and would be happy to pay for the fuel cost and buy you a dinner for the effort.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this!

Hi Michael,
My gg grandfather Charles B Lowe was a brother of your Levi Clark Lowe. I would be very interested in sharing information & photos of the Lowes. I have a number of photos, mostly of Charles & his descendants of course. But I do have a few that are unidentified & are probably of his father, brothers or uncles. I'd be happy to send them to you, along with anything else that you might find helpful.

I was very interested to read of Pem Lowe, I haven't gotten that far in Levi's line. I have been working on Levi's son Charles Edward, mostly because that was also my brother's name. Do you know if Pem was an Adventist minister in Charleston? Or if there were any other Adventist ministers in the family?

Unfortunately, I live in VA & am not able to take the cemetery pitures for you. Hopefully, someone in Roane Co will be able to do so.

My email is djrock78@cox.net

I have no direct connection to this family but have photographed cemeteries in this particular area. According to a 1938 WPA reading of the family burial ground, there were 16 marked graves and approx. 38 unmarked. Also the yr. 2000 R.C.H.S. Vol. III of Roane County cemeteries lists the Pem Lowe Cemetery, pp.171-173, located near Charles Fork Dam and on the Walter Jordan farm. There are several Burke's buried there and that is perhaps why you found it listed as Burke Cem.
Sometime when I'm in Roane Co., I'll see if I can find and photograph it for you
