Hi-

I've been researching the Cox family and am looking for help. My 3X great grandfather was Philip David Cox (1819-1860) who was one of the first merchants of the county. I'm trying to find information on his parents (I think David Sutton Cox and Hannah Tharp). I've not been able to find any death records on P D at all, and am hoping that if they exist they could help my research. Do you have any suggestions of where those records could be or for that matter, was it common NOT to file death records in Roane Co at that time? I've had the same issue with his son David (who married Rachel A Raines) who died in 1904, but fortunately I have family documentation on him and his father.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
