Icie Criner, my grandmother, was born September 11, 1997 Roane County, WV. Daughter of Hillery Criner (B.11/9/1868)and Virginia Bell Nichols (B.5/5/1870). Married Morgan Shelbin Jett March 6, 1926 in Roane County. Died May 6, 1971 Charleston General Hospital, Charleston, Kanawha County, WV.

| Anna Belle Smith was born in April 1869, a daughter of Lindsey Epison and Nancy L.J.(Carper) Smith. She married Josiah L. Moore 07 Apr 1887 in Roane Co., WV. and they raised at least five children near Amma. Anna Belle's sister, Virginia Reese Smith and her children, also lived with the Moore family for many years. Anna Belle died 19 Jan 1932. |

This picture is believed to have been taken on the day of the funeral of Hezy's wife, Ella (Patton) Nida.
L to R - Hezy Nida and children Annie, Kenna, Roxie, Whirley, Roy, John and Arch.
Roy was the father and Hezy the grandfather of Jack Nida.

A Family of Carpers taken at Nelson Carper's home at Amma. Date of picture is uncertain but it was prior to 1936 when Mac was killed in an auto accident in Elk River at Clendenin.
