| This is a photo of Samuel Alexander Connolly of Spencer (Center). Family history has it that he saved a number of fellow coal miners by holding up a beam while they escaped a cave-in. The injuries to his back from that act were serious enough that he could no longer work the mines, so he started a saw mill. Later in life, he owned a general store near town. The identity of the other two gentlemen shown is unknown at this time. |
