Solomon Salyers b. 7 Mar 1836 Copper Creek? Russell Co VA. son of John Salyer and ?Delila Castle? Married Mary Catherine "Polly" McGlothlin, the widow of William Hensley, and had children Lydia, DJ, Fannie, Billy, Mary Ellen, Jodie, Georgia, Retta, and Verna. Died 26 Mar 1911 at Blown Timber/ Newton and is buried in the Salyers Cemetery there. |

Hesson is chairman of the Fort Randolph Committee as well as a Revolutionary War re-enactor from Point Pleasant, WV. His informative presentation was on the history of Fort Randolph and the decisive battle which occurred at Point Pleasant known as Dunmore's War of 1774. |

We are excited about the documentary film of Roane County history being produced by film-maker Wayne Worth, of Clarksburg, WV. He has interviewed , Denver Gandee, Orton Jones, Paul Hughes, Linda Cottrell Liss and will complete Roane County's story by interviewing, Mayor Terry Williams and Society President Rick Greathouse. Mr. Worth is film documenting each WV county. This film project, because of his love of West Virginia, will be offered to each 8th grade teacher for use in their West Virginia studies. |
